Today I have another stunning polish from the Laquerlicious Christmas collection to share with you. This is Warm Sugar Cookies and well, even if it wasn’t a gorgeous shade I would have needed it for the name alone! Luckily it is a delicious shade. A nude base, which I often struggle with with my fair skin tone but this is also full of pink and gold glitters and flakes which gives it a glorious warmth and glow on the nails. Application was smooth and opaque in two easy coats.
So never one to leave a polish alone, I decided to reflect the name and colours of the polish with a few additions. Using Nails Inc Gold Foil and Moyou Festive Plate 1 I stamped a cute little gingerbread man and some candy swirls.
Sorry one been atop for a few days. I have a stinking cold but if you don’t get too close to your screen I’m sure you’re safe to keep reading! 😁
Okay I’ll be honest the real name of this gorgeous KB Shimmer polish is Hexy Bikini but it’s one heck of a sexy glitter! And although it may have a rather summery name I thought it was perfect for a glittery festive mani too! Yep I love to twist things to my advantage!
Hexy Bikini is a textured glitter polish and there’s a lot going on in this little bottle! It is jam packed with holo glitters in silver, teal and pink. I would say that it is best worn alone as it has a thickish consistency that is perfectly opaque in two coats. But of course sponged on or applied carefully and thinly I think it could still work as a topper and in a glitter gradient.
I decided it would be fun to pair it with some straight vinyls and black polish to accentuate the sparkle. I started with two coats of Nails Inc Black Taxi – a perfect patent black. When that was dry I added some straight vinyls and applied Hexy Bikini over the top. And then finished with a couple of coats of top coat to seal it all together.
I was really pleased with the result and excitingly we had sun. Very rare in the English winter so I could capture this glitter in all its sparkly glory!
Remember with vinyls to wait until your base polish is completely dry. Possibly even wait for a few hours, as it is still slightly soft the sticky vinyls will lift up the base, and always remove the vinyls while your topper polish is still wet.
If I’m totally honest I’m not keen on snow. Oh yes I love it on Christmas cards and in Christmas movies. But in real life? Every single year England totally forgets what you do with the white stuff that falls from the sky. We act as though a force from some other planet has taken over the earth and we must stockpile baked beans and tinned ham in case we are never able to venture outside our front door ever again. Trains stop running because it’s “the wrong kind of snow” and the nation becomes addicted to the half hourly weather forecasts as we wait in joyful hope for the Thaw!
But!! It is very pretty and romantic and on the nails I can cope with it just fine! 😂 So I was very excited to recreate a winter wonderland scene in a safe context that wouldn’t involve me showing the world I will never master the art of skating! For the base I created a gradient with Models Own Sound Factory, Cornflower Gleam and Blueberry Muffin. I really love the MO polishes for gradients. They blend so well but I will warn you now that Sound Factory is a bit of a stainer….my cuticles have taken on a “frozen” look! 😳 Once that was dry I stamped with Nails Inc Silver Foil using images from Moyou Festive Plate 8 and then sponged on a little silver polish for a snowy effect. I just love the stag image. What do you think?
And the beauty of all this is that the trains are still running and I’m not in danger of falling on my bum every time I move and having to eat baked beans for breakfast lunch and dinner!
A treat for you all today! A break from snowflakes! One thing you should know about me is that I have an excessively sweet tooth. I say I love my coffee but if I tell you my signature drink is a Starbucks caramel macchiato with just half a shot of espresso and extra caramel drizzle I think you will get some indication just how extensive my sugar problem is! So I always love the sugary treats of Christmas!
The polish I’m wearing today is called Peppermint Twist and reflects the glorious colors of the red and green candy canes and candy of the season. It is another polish from the fabulous Laquerlicious Christmas collection. Such a fun polish! The base is a white crelly – always my go to finish when I don’t know what polish I fancy – they never disappoint, and it has a subtle red shimmer and micro red and green glitters through it!
Never one to leave things alone I decided to add some freehand (please be kind!) stripes in red and green to reflect the name Peppermint Twist. What do you think? My freehand certainly needs a bit more work but it was fun to try!
The polish was a dream to apply. No fishing required and opaque in two easy coats. I will be using this again through the season and beyond!
Forget Me Not is the most glorious electric blue with a subtle scatter holo and a fine silver shimmer. The formula was perfect. Opaque for me in two generous coats with top coat.
Well, as it is the Christmas season I couldn’t resist adding some snowflake decals. I felt they set the stunning colour off beautifully. What do you think?
What do you think of Picture Polish? I am quickly becoming an addict! There really is something quite special about each one! If you have enjoyed reading this please do comment and come and find me on IG at http://instagram.com/clairestelle8
Well I’ve been waiting for this moment since the end of Halloween and the themed mani season! It’s December at last! And that means all manis shall now feature snowflakes instead of cobwebs! 😂 Actually today snowflakes only feature a small part as I couldn’t resist the beautiful Christmas knit designs on my new Moyou festive plate.
I began with a base of Laquerlicious Merry and Bright. This is from the new Laquerlicious Christmas collection that ive even itching to use for almost a month now but I promised myself I would wait till December! So I have a few more to show you over the next few days. Merry and Bright is a glorious iridescent red packed with micro shimmery red orange and holographic glitters! A perfect Christmas red. I will be using this a lot! So be prepared! Like all of Michelle’s polishes I have tried, it applied really smoothly. It was opaque in two coats and as the glitter is so small in this polish, one layer of top coat smoothed it all out beautifully.
Over the top I stamped some lovely images from Moyou Festive Plate 4 with Barry M white and then I noticed how very similar my nails looked to my scarf if you can spot my scarf in the pictures! 😂
I’m very new to stamping so I was quite pleased how these turned out but there’s lots of room for improvement!
I am obsessed with all things Disney so I was incredibly excited when Glam Polish brought out a Disney inspired collection called Never too Old to be Young. This gorgeous glitter topper is from that very collection and is named after a song from Cinderella! And you really do feel like you are fit for the ball when wearing it!
It is a clear base packed with turquoise, pink, periwinkle and holo silver glitter in various fun shapes! So versatile I had so many ideas what to do with this but in the end I decided to pick out the various colours in a gradient. I used Nails Inc polishes in Power Pink, Chelsea Physic Garden and an unnamed Instyle periwinkle. I then popped on just one coat of the glitter topper. There were no issues with application and no need for fishing. Glitter perfect!
I love the stars in particular! What do you think?
Such a versatile polish! I have too many ideas what else I can do with this! Expect to see this featured again!
